Mylajean “Jean” Coan was born October 23, 1932, at Wakefield to Roy and Blanche (Smith) Pearson. She graduated from Wakefield High School. Jean married James Coan, September 18, 1950, at Sacred Heart Rectory in Emerson. They farmed northwest of Emerson prior to moving to Concord in 1952. They then moved to Winside for two years before moving to Wayne. Jean was employed at several retail stores in Wayne before she and Jim co-owned and were the original operators of The Dairy Sweet. She later worked as a bookkeeper at J.M. McDonald’s Department Store before working over twenty years at The State National Bank, retiring in 2003 as Head Teller. In post-retirement she chose to work part-time at Chartwell’s Food Service at Wayne State College. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law, Alan Dinsmore.
Jean’s family appreciates your thoughts and kindness and invites you to lunch in St. Mary’s Holy Family Hall following the service.
