Services for Dean A. Meyer age 88 of Wayne will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Visitation: Thursday 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with family present at Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne. He passed away Tuesday at Careage Of Wayne.

Dean Alden Meyer was born January 27, 1924, on a farm southeast of Wayne to Will and Mary (Pfeil) Meyer. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of rural Wakefield. He attended rural school at District #33. Dean married Dorothy Helgren November 19, 1947, at Salem Lutheran Church Parsonage in Wakefield. The couple farmed southeast of Wayne until moving into town in 1989. Dean was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church rural Wakefield where he served as Elder and Trustee and present member of Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne. Dean was a former school board member at District #33, former officer of Northeast Nebraska Cattle Feeder’s Association, and served on the FHA Board. He enjoyed playing cards and pool at the Senior Center and traveling to many places in the United States.
Dean is survived by his children, Sandy (Glen) Nichols, Jerold “Butch” (Connie) Meyer, and Jeanette (David) Swanson, all of Wayne; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Warren Helgren of Columbia, TN; sisters-in-law, Delores Helgren of Wayne and Darlene Helgren of Norfolk; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dorothy in February of 2011, two brothers, Vernon Meyer and Willis F. Meyer, one sister, Lois (Harry) Gust; brothers-in-law, Gene and Gordon Helgren; and sister-in-law, Rosalie Meyer
