Donald Guy Pippitt was born on January 15, 1929, on a farm north of Carroll, Nebraska, to Guy and Rose Pippitt.  At an early age, he and his family moved to a farm northwest of Wayne, Nebraska.  Following his Wayne High School graduation, he served in the Wayne National Guard for nine years.  Don married Joyce Sorensen on August 20, 1953, at the First Baptist Church of Wayne, of which he was a member.  He and Joyce lived on the home place for 44 years before retiring and moving to Waynein 1997.  He was a twenty year member of the Wayne County Weed Board, a member of the Izaak Walton League, and also volunteered countless hours in and around the community.  Don enjoyed his years farming and no matter how busy the day, he would often find time to “cruise” the neighborhood in his red ’66 Mustang.  A favorite pastime of his was summer family trips to the cabin.
Don is survived by his wife Joyce, daughter Jeanne Ann (Dan) Kardell of Wayne and grandchildren, Dena (Daniel) Lipp of Laurel, Shaun Kardell and Jenessa Kardell of Wayne.  Surviving in-laws include Norma Pippitt of Wayne; Dean and Marsha Sorensen of Greenville, South Carolina; and Judy Sorensen of Wayne.
He was preceded in death by son Richard Douglas in 1977, his sister Frances Hansen 2011, his brother Robert Dean Pippitt 2010, Richard Sorensen in 2004 and his parents.
Don’s family appreciates your thoughts and prayers and invites you to lunch in the church basement following the service and would like you to stay to visit with the family as they return from the committal service.
