Nebraska Getting No Relief From Drought

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A weekly tracker of the nation’s worst drought in decades says parched conditions continue easing in some Midwest states as farmers step up their corn harvests, but things conditions are getting no better in Nebraska.
The U.S. Drought Monitor update released Thursday shows about one-fifth of the contiguous U.S. remains in the two worst categories of drought – extreme and exceptional. All but about 2 percent of Nebraska remains in the worst two categories, unchanged from last week. Nationwide, the swath still dealing with exceptional drought dropped by less than half of a percentage point, to 5.96 percent.
