WSC Volleyball Down Minn.-Crookston In Three Sets

CROOKSTON, Minn. - Senior middle hitter Alex Armes recorded match highs of 12 kills and four blocks to lead #21 Wayne State College in a 3-0 Northern Sun Conference volleyball win at Minnesota, Crookston last night.
Scores of the match were 25-21, 25-19 and 25-16. Both teams had 17 kills in the first set but WSC had just one attack error while forcing UMC into seven as the ‘Cats recorded a 25-21 win. The ‘Cats accounted for 14 kills in the second set and forced another seven attack errors on the Golden Eagles as WSC went up 2-0 with a 25-19 second set win. The third set saw WSC create 10 attack errors on UMC as the Wildcats completed the sweep with the 25-16 win. Cori Hobbs and Lauren Sieckmann were each credited with eight kills. Redshirt freshman libero Courtney VanGroningen had 18 digs while redshirt freshman setter Leisa McClintock handed out 38 set assists. The Wildcats will be in action again this afternoon visiting Bemidji State in a 3 p.m. Northern Sun Conference contest. The Wildcats improve to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in the NSIC.
