WSC Volleyball Sweeps Minot State

WAYNE - Junior outside hitter Cori Hobbs notched a team-high 12 kills to lead #20 Wayne State in a 3-0 Northern Sun Conference volleyball win Friday evening over Minot State of North Dakota at Rice Auditorium in Wayne. Scores of the match were 25-21, 25-15 and 25-19 as Wayne State improves to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in league play while the visiting Beavers slip to 4-12 and 0-6 in the NSIC.
WSC outhit Minot State in the contest .190 to .107 as the Wildcats had 38 kills and 14 attack errors compared to 35 kills and 22 attack errors for the Beavers. Both teams had six blocks but WSC recorded eight service aces to just three for Minot State.
Hobbs was the lone Wildcat in double figures with 12 kills followed by Lexi Malm eight kills. Redshirt freshman libero Courtney Van Groningen had a team-high 15 digs with Katie Hughes, another freshman, recording 12. Redshirt freshman setter Leisa McClintock handed out 29 set assists and also had 13 digs with a team-best three service aces.
Wayne State will be at home again Saturday afternoon hosting the University of Mary in a 4 p.m. Northern Sun Conference contest at Rice Auditorium in Wayne.
