WAYNE (KTCH/KCTY) – The Wayne High football team hosted Pierce in another crucial C-1 contest last night. The Bluejays came out firing on all cylinders on their way to a 48-0 rout of the Blue Devils. Pierce’s Nate Meier had a hat trick of rushing touchdowns, scoring on runs of 22, 58 and 13 yards to lead the Bluejay offense. Dillon Ronspies scored on a 51-yard touchdown run, and Trent Spieker had a one yard touchdown run, while Lane Rorich also connected with Lucas Osborn for a 47-yard touchdown pass. Pierce also scored defensively, as Tyler Pettit intercepted a pass from Jalen Barry and returned it for a touchdown. Pierce took a 35-0 lead into halftime, and would score six points in the third quarter and seven in the fourth took make the final 48-0 in favor of the Bluejays.  With the loss, the Blue Devils are now 2-5 on the year. As the playoff picture becomes clearer, each game becomes more important. Wayne keeps that in mind as they travel to David City next week for a matchup with the Scouts.
