CSP Sweeps WSC In Three Sets

ST. PAUL, Minn. - #6 Concordia-St. Paul swept #18 Wayne State College 25-19, 25-18 and 25-23 in Northern Sun Conference volleyball played Saturday evening in St. Paul, Minnesota. The host Golden Bears improve to 13-3 overall and 7-2 in the NSIC with the win while WSC falls to 13-5 and 6-3 in league play.
Concordia-St. Paul held a .254-.133 advantage in hitting over the Wildcats and had 50 kills to 30 for WSC. The Wildcats did out-block the Golden Bears 9-6.
Junior Cori Hobbs paced Wayne State in hitting with seven kills followed by senior middle hitter Alex Armes with six kills and a team-high six blocks. Senior rightside hitter Melanie Placke contributed six kills and four blocks for the Wildcats. Leisa McClintock was credited with 21 set assists while Katie Hughes and Courtney VanGroningen had 12 digs apiece for WSC. VanGroningen also had three service aces for the Wildcats.
Wayne State will be at home for three matches next week, starting Wednesday night hosting #1 Nebraska-Kearney in the seventh annual Pack the House/Black Out Night at Rice Auditorium starting at 7 p.m. The Wildcats will also host St. Cloud State Friday evening at 7 p.m. and #3 Minnesota Duluth Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
