WSC Soccer Edged By MSU

MANKATO, Minn. - Wayne State soccer fell 1-0 at Minnesota State on Sunday afternoon as Nicole Dooher scored the lone goal of the contest to give the Mavericks their victory. WSC drops to 1-10-1 overall on the season while MSU improves to 10-1-1 overall and 9-0-0 in league play.
            The Mavericks scored the only goal of the game 13 minutes into the first half when Nicole Dooher buried a header in the back of the net off a corner kick by Cassie Welk. Minnesota State outshot Wayne State 28-1 and 15-1 in shots on goal. MSU also held the advantage in corner kicks 13-0.
            Wayne State was led by McKenna Adams who had the only shot of the game for WSC and it was on goal. Courtney True was solid defensively in the net for the Wildcats notching 14 saves and only allowing one goal.
            The Wildcats will be at home next weekend, hosting Minot State Saturday at 11 a.m. and the University of Mary Sunday at 1 p.m. in a pair of Northern Sun Conference contests at the WSC Soccer Complex.
