Wayne State Women Golfers Finish 13th At NSIC Championships

BRAINERD, Minn. - Wayne State College improved 21 shots from the first day by shooting a 440 Sunday in the final round of the Northern Sun Conference Championships played at The Classic at Madden’s Golf Course in Brainerd, Minnesota Saturday and Sunday. The Wildcats shot team scores of 461 and 440 to finish the 36-hole event at 901 to finish in 13th place.
Augustana College captured the team title with a 646 followed by Minnesota State in second at 696 and Concordia-St. Paul third with 699.
Wayne State’s top scorer was Sarah Phinney firing rounds of 104 and 104 for a 208. Wayne freshman Taylor Burke followed with scores of 109 and 117 for a 226. Other WSC finishers included Morgan Jones with a 237 (113-124) and Emily Kaslon came in at 269 (135-134).
The meet concludes the fall portion of the Wayne State College women’s golf schedule.
