Blue Devil Football Falls To David City

Posted: 12 October, 2012

DAVID CITY (KTCH/KCTY) - The Wayne High football team was on the road last night, facing C-1 opponent David City. It was the Scouts starting things off on the scoreboard, as they marched 75 yards on their opening drive that ended when Austin Havlena carried for a seven-yard touchdown run. After the PAT, David City led 7-0. The teams would trade punts, and then late in the first quarter, a bad snap forced punter Curtis Moeller to be tackled in the endzone for a safety, boosting David City’s lead to 9-0. The Scouts would add a quick touchdown with 11:54 to go in the second quarter, when Havlena dashed for 27 yards. The two-point conversion was good and David City led 17-0. The Scouts would score again when Kurt Veskrna intercepted Wayne’s Jalen Barry and raced 30 yards for a touchdown. David City took their 24-0 lead into halftime. The Scouts added two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter to make the final score David City 36, Wayne 0. The Blue Devils fall to 2-6 on the year and will host Norfolk Catholic next Thursday.
