Funeral services for Lucille Heitman, age 99 of Laurel, will be held at Immanual Lutheran Church in Coleridge on Tuesday at 10:30.She passed away Saturday at Park View Haven Care Center in Coleridge. Visitation: United Lutheran Church in
Laurel on Monday from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with family present. Interment: Laurel Cemetery

Lucille Mae Heitman was born February 21, 1913, to William Bennett and Julia Madeline (Wohlman) Puntney on a farm near Hartington. She attended Branch School District #14 in Cedar County and then helped on her parent’s farm and for neighboring ladies. Lucille married Arnold John Heitman April 12, 1934, at Neligh. They farmed east of Hartington, later moving to a farm southeast of Belden in 1942. In 1972, the couple moved into Laurel. She was the custodian of the Laurel City Auditorium Kitchen from 1972 until 2002. She kept busy doing house keeping for numerous Laurel ladies, along with her favorite pastime of baking buns, pies, cookies and other goods for family and friends. Lucille enjoyed patching and sewing clothes for friends and quilts for her church. Lucille was a dedicated member of the Belden American Legion Auxiliary for 67 years, where she held the offices of President, Secretary and Chaplin. She was a member of the United Lutheran Church, Ruth Circle and Women’s Mission Fellowship and a volunteer at the Norfolk Veteran’s Home.
Lucille is survived by her children, Vivian Papenhausen of Coleridge, William Heitman of Laurel, Dorothy Wert of Wayne; daughter-in-law, Carol Heitman of Laurel; five grandchildren, Coleen Jeffries, Marlin Papenhausen, Debra Wert, Todd Heitman, and Troy Heitman; seven great-grandchildren, Collin Jeffries, Kelsey Papenhausen, Brady Papenhausen, Rodney Cole, Tyler Heitman, Justin Heitman, and Alexa Heitman; two great-great grandchildren, Alana Cole and Landon Cole; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Raymond (Ardath) Puntney of Coleridge, and; Marilyn Puntney of Wausa; nieces and nephews.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold November 8, 1993; a son, Roger in 2008; six brothers, Edward, Ralph, William, Robert, Floyd, and Wendell Puntney; two sisters, Viola Mac Knight and Helen Vock; two sons-in-law in 2003, Curtis Papenhausen and Ronald Wert; and one great-grand daughter, Christa Jeffries in 1995.
