Funeral services for Arlene Rabe age 86 of Winside will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday November 1st at Trinity Lutheran Church Winside. Visitation is on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Winside with family present. She passed away Saturday at Careage of Wayne. Interment: at Pleasant View Cemetery in Winside.

Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements with Hasemann Funeral Home of Winside.

    Arlene Gladys Rabe was born May 14, 1926, near Hadar to Frederick and Alice ( Bauermeister) Marquardt.  She attended grade school at Foster and Pierce and graduated from Hoskins High School.  She went on to attend Wayne State Teachers College. Arlene married Art Rabe June 26, 1949, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoskins. The couple farmed near Winside for a time before moving into Winside.  Arlene was a teacher in rural Wayne County schools for four years in districts #63, #58, and #41.  For many years, she assisted families as a visitation attendant with Schumacher and Hasemann Funeral Homes.  Arlene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, traveling, and playing cards.       
    Arlene  is  survived by her sons,  Jerry (Susan) Rabe and James (Carolyn) Rabe and all of Winside; five grandchildren; ten  great-grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin (Zo) Marquardt of Whittier, CA, Bill (Norma) Marquardt of Hygiene, CO, one sister, Connie German of Norton, KS; and nieces and nephews.
    Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Art March 14, 2010; one sister, Yvonne Vonseggern; one brother, Dale Marquardt; and one grandson-in-law, Juan Escalante.
