WSC Women's Basketball Ranked 16th In Preseason Poll

WAYNE - The Wayne State College women’s basketball program is ranked #16 in the country in the preseason USA Today/ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll with 275 points in voting conducted by various Division II head coaches from across the country.
Ashland University (Ohio) ranked #1 receiving 23 first place votes and 767 points while defending national champion Shaw University (N.C.) received the eight other first place votes and ranked ninth with 444 points.
Wayne State returns one starter and four letter winners from last year’s team that went 32-3 and won the NSIC regular season and post-season tournament titles along with the school’s first-ever Central Region crown which resulted in a trip to the Elite Eight.
The Wildcats play one home exhibition game before opening the regular season, hosting Simpson College on Thursday, November 8th at 7 p.m. Wayne State opens the regular season on Tuesday, November 13th hosting York College in a 7 p.m. game at Rice Auditorium.
