WSC Men's XC Competes At Regionals

WAYNE - The Wayne State College men’s cross country team placed 23rd Saturday with a team score of 729 points at the NCAA Division II Central Region Cross Country Championships in Joplin, Missouri and hosted by Missouri Southern.
Augustana College captured the team title with 31 points, well ahead of second place Missouri Southern’s 98 points. Other national qualifying teams included Minnesota State in third place at 108 points and Southwest Baptist fourth with 116. Rounding out the top 10 teams were Fort Hays State in fifth with 150 points followed by Sioux Falls (152), Northwest Missouri State (234), Nebraska-Kearney (238), Central Missouri (240) and Pittsburg State (303).
Millard West junior Greg Tracy was the top Wildcat runner finishing in 120th place out of 163 runners with a time of 33:39 on the 10,000 meter course. Other WSC finishers included Nathan Boggess in 155th place at 35:59, Misael Azpeitia was 156th (36:02), Jared Balady 157th (36:27) and Jared Meister 163th (38:53). Junior Garang Lual, the top runner for WSC in the first four meets of the season, did not finish the race due to injury.
