SOUTH SIOUX CITY - Senator Dave Bloomfield of Hoskins defeated Van Phillips of South City, 61 to 39 percent in last night's race for the District 17 spot in the legislature. Bloomfield was appointed by Governor Dave Heineman in 2010 to replace Bob Giese, who resigned after he was elected Dakota County Treasurer.
