Wayne High One-Act Honored At Mid-State Festival

WAYNE - Ten area high schools participated in the Mid-State Conference One-Act Festival at Wayne State College’s Ramsey Theatre on Wednesday, November 14, 2012. Wayne High School performed “The Attempted Murder of Peggy Sweetwater,” written by John Rustan and Frank Semerano.  Nine of the ten cast members were recognized as outstanding performers for the show. They included Emma Osnes, Kendra Liska, Parker Wren, Jack Tyson, Jason Holt, Aspen Pflanz, Olivia Ficke-Anderson, Casey Dalager and Marissa Wiese. The festival judges recognized an overall best actor, best actress, best supporting actor, and best supporting actress for the conference. Wayne’s Emma Osnes was named Outstanding Supporting Actress and Kendra Liska was named Outstanding Actress for 2012. The students are under the direction of Heidi Thompson and assisted by Terri Hypse.

The team will be presenting its show on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at 7:30 P.M. in Ley Theatre on the second floor of the Brandenburg Education Building on the WSC campus. The performance is open to the public with free admission.

District play production will be on November 30, 2012, to earn a trip to the state play production contest in December in Kearney. Wayne will perform at 11:55 A.M. in Ramsey as part of its district contest.
