Wildcat Volleyball Earns Eighth Seed In Regional Tournament

WAYNE - Wayne State College earned an eighth straight trip to the NCAA Division II National Volleyball Tournament Sunday night by earning an at-large bid as the eighth seed for the NCAA Central Regional that will be hosted by Concordia-St. Paul Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 1 in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Wildcats will meet Central Region #1 seed Concordia-St. Paul on Thursday, November 29th at a time to be announced.
Wayne State finished the regular season with a 22-9 record and was fourth in the Northern Sun Conference with a 14-6 league record. WSC and CU met once in the regular season with the Golden Bears scoring a 3-0 win over the Wildcats in Wayne on October 26th.
Other first round matchups in the NCAA Central Regional find #2 seed and NSIC Tournament champion Southwest Minnesota State (29-2) facing #7 seed Truman (27-6), #3 seed and MIAA Tournament champion Nebraska-Kearney (33-2) meets #6 seed Washburn (31-3) while #4 seed Central Missouri (26-6) takes on #5 seed Minnesota Duluth (28-4).
Official game times for the NCAA Central Regional are expected to be announced today.
