National Champion Ruggers Return Home To Wayne

WAYNE (KTCH/KCTY) – The Wayne State College women’s rugby team returned to Wayne yesterday fresh off a national championship. The Wildcat ruggers received a fire truck escort up Main Street on their way to the college where they were met by a large crowd of fans. The WSC women capped off a dream weekend with two wins at the 2012 National Small College Rugby Organization tournament in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. It started with a 23-21 win over Wheaton College in semifinal play on Saturday. On Sunday, The ‘Cats earned a convincing 32-0 win over previously unbeaten Roger Williams University of Bristol, Rhode Island, claiming the 2012 NSCRO National Championship.
