Morningside Advances In NAIA Football Playoffs

SIOUX CITY (KTCH/KCTY) - Morningside College exploded for 34 points in the second quarter on the way to a 40-35 NAIA football playoff win against Montana Tech on Saturday. Wakefield native Joel Nixon was 10-20 passing with 156 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, while also carrying the ball 19 times for 116 yards. Defensively, Wakefield’s Colby Henderson contributed 10 total tackles, including five solo and an interception. The Mustangs are currently 11-0 on the season and will face Southern Oregon in the next round of the playoffs on Saturday in Sioux City.
