Charles J. Kudrna Sr. was born on February 14, 1932 to Fred and Ruby (Potter) Kudrna. He went home to Heaven on Friday, November 30 2012. Charles grew up in the Cowels area and lived on a farm with his folks. In 1951 he was drafted into the armed forces, and trained in Fort Riley, Kansas. Charles married Marjorie Schenk on July 26th, 1952. Then, after training he was sent to Korea where he was on the front lines until he was sent home in April of 1953. He then worked for a farmer for 9 months when he decided he wanted to become an appliance technician. This eventually brought him and his family to Wayne where he worked for Mr. Kugler from 1958 until 1975 when he bought his own business, “Charlie’s Refrigeration”. Charles retired in 1994 because of bad health.
Charles gave his life to Christ in 1958. He loved the Lord with all his heart, and loved to read the Bible. The Bible states in John 14, verses 2 and 3…“In my Father’s House are many Mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” Towards the end of his life, as his health began to deteriorate, he said he wanted to go “home”. He was so ready to see his Savior face to face.
Charles leaves his loving wife of 60 years, and four sons; Charles J. Kudrna Jr. and Linda of Norfolk, Nebraska, David Kudrna and Tina of Omaha, Nebraska, Robin Kudrna and Deanna of Boone, Iowa, and Scott Kudrna and Marci of Wayne. He had 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson, three sisters, Dorothy (Norbert) Beyke of Lincoln, Darlene Brown of Colorado, and Wanda Baker of Colorado, and many nieces and nephews and great friends.
Preceding him in death were his mother, father, one brother, two sisters, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and one sister-in-law.
Charlie’s family appreciates your thoughts and kindness and invites you to lunch in the church fellowship hall following the committal service.
