Wayne High Wrestlers Bested In Dual With Norfolk Catholic

Posted: 07 December, 2012

WAYNE (KTCH/KCTY) - The Wayne High wrestling team was in action last night, hosting a dual with Norfolk Catholic. It was a special “Pack the Gym” event where over $200 of proceeds from a split the pot was donated to injured Norfolk Catholic athlete Isaac Pfeifer. The Blue Devils had to wait until the 132 lb class to see their first victory, when Wayne’s Aaron Svenson pinned Cory Jones with 57 seconds left in the first period. The next win for Wayne came at 160 lbs when Cole Koenig pinned Matt Brtek with 38 seconds remaining in the second period. The final Blue Devil victory came at 195 lbs, as Wayne’s Kody Frahm pinned Joe Braithwait with 1:17 left in the second period. Justin Hodges and Austin Keiser both claimed forfeit wins for Wayne last night as well. Norfolk Catholic would win the dual however, as the team score favored the Knights, 42-30. The Wayne wrestlers are next in action Saturday at the West Point-Beemer Invite.
