OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – Power is slowly being returned to thousands of people in eastern Nebraska affected by a powerful snow storm that’s also hit Iowa.
The Omaha Public Power District says just over 29,000 customers are without power as of Thursday afternoon, a drop from 36,000 at the height of the storm. The hardest-hit area is in and around Omaha, where about 18,000 customers are without electricity. The utility says drifting snow from high winds have hampered efforts to restore power in many areas.
