NORFOLK (AP) - Eight Norfolk residents suspected of breaking into an apartment and assaulting a man and woman remain in custody.
Norfolk Police Capt. Michael Bauer says the break-in occurred on the west side of Norfolk about 6 p.m. Friday. He said several people entered the apartment, and the male victim stabbed one of the assailants in self-defense. Bauer said several children were present when the assault occurred and were less than five feet away from a window that was broken to gain access. The eight people arrested range in age from 18 to 24. All are accused of strangulation, burglary and child abuse.
