WSC Grad Raises $5,000 For Special Olympics

OMAHA - Wayne State College 2007 graduate and Omaha police officer Kevin Wiese agreed to be caged in the cold as part of a Special Olympics charity event to meet his $5,000 fundraising goal.

The Omaha Police Department announced that Officer Kevin Wiese raised $5,000 after receiving one final, $489 contribution. Last year, Wiese raised about $4,300. Wiese is a Creighton High School graduate from Creighton, Neb.The "Cage a Cop" fundraiser is associated with the Law Enforcement Torch Run Organization, which raises money for the Special Olympics. In 2011, officers raised more than $42 million on an international level, and Nebraska law enforcement officers raised $238,000 for Special Olympics Nebraska.
