Tide Rolls Irish

Posted: 08 January, 2013

MIAMI (AP) - AJ McCarron threw for four touchdowns and Eddie Lacy ran for 140 yards as Alabama trounced Notre Dame 42-14 to win its second consecutive national championship. The Crimson Tide gained 265 of their 529 total yards on the ground, held the ball for more than 38 minutes and held the Irish scoreless until Everett Golson rushed for a two-yard touchdown late in the third quarter. Alabama finishes 13-1 after becoming the third team to win three national titles in four seasons since polls started being used to crown champions in 1936, and the first since Nebraska from 1994-97.
