Omaha Tribe Seeking Help To Fix Water Pipes

Posted: 01 February, 2013

MACY (AP) - The Omaha Tribe says it will be seeking county, state and federal help in fixing several pipes and restoring water service to its reservation. A boil advisory was issued on Monday after officials learned of a broken main on Sunday in the northeast Nebraska town of Macy. That pipe has been repaired, but officials found leaks in eight smaller lines leading from the main. Tribe emergency management director Carroll Webster Jr. says the boil advisory can't be lifted until all the lines have been repaired and the water tested to ensure that the loss of pressure didn't allow contamination. The reservation is mostly in Thurston County, Neb., but a portion extends across the Missouri River into northwest Iowa.
