Wayne Girls Fall Just Short Again Boone Central/Newman Grove

NORFOLK (KTCH/KCTY) - The Wayne High girls’ basketball team competed against Boone Central/Newman Grove in a consolation bracket contest in the Mid-State Conference Tournament last night at Norfolk Catholic High School. It was a close game throughout, as Boone Central led just 27-26 at halftime. Both teams scored just eight points in the third quarter, but the Lady Blue Devils came back with 13 points in the fourth quarter. Despite their best efforts, Wayne fell just short, as the final score favored Boone Central/Newman Grove 50-47. Wayne’s Angie Nelson led all scorers with 16 points, while Sarah Maxson and Tarah Stegemann added eight and seven points, respectively. Jade Gottier was the leading scorer for the Cardinals with 15 points. With the loss, the Lady Blue Devils are now 10-11 on the year.
