Harvey Ervin Henry Brasch was born March 11, 1923, on a farm near Bloomfield to Ervin and Anna (Hammer) Brasch. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Bloomfield. He attended School District 106. Harvey married Mardell Lindblad May 17, 1945. The couple farmed northwest of Bloomfield where their four children were born. In 1962, the couple moved to Norfolk and then to Wayne in 1964. Harvey and Mardell owned and operated Wayne Monument Company in Wayne until their retirement in 1984. Harvey married Marian (Test) Nelsen January 14, 1995, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wayne. Harvey was a member and officer of Izaak Walton League, a former city council member, treasurer and leader of Webelos / Boy Scouts, treasurer of School District 106, and an usher at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayne. Harvey served as an assistant fire chief with the Wayne Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
Harvey is survived by his children, Shirel (Jerry) Zillier of Bismark, ND; Jerry (LaNae) Brasch of Lincoln, Jimmy (Helen) Brasch of Omaha; step-daughter, Susanne (Larry) Sunderman of Pender; step-daughter-in-law, Jennifer Nelsen of Wayne; eight grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Bernice (Glen) Kumm of Norfolk; and nieces and nephews.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mardell in 1993; wife, Marian in 2011; a daughter, Susan; a step-son, Stanley Nelsen; a brother, Harry Brasch; sisters, Mabel Tangeman and Margaret Hollister.
