NORFOLK - Norfolk Fire and Police officials were on the campus of Northeast Community College yesterday morning, after receiving a call about a homemade pop bottle bomb near a dorm building.
Norfolk Police Captain Michael Bauer said they received the call at around 11:31 am, and members with Norfolk Fire and Rescue as well as the Police responded to the scene. Officials determined that three of the pop bottle bombs had exploded last night, but there was a large two-liter bottle that had not yet exploded. Officials then placed the dorms nearest the bottle on a lockdown for about 15 minutes, until the area was considered safe. No injuries or damages were reported. At the conclusion of the investigation, 18-year-old Reid Alden of Norfolk was cited for Possession of a Destructive Device.
