Wayne Fire Department Responds to Gas Leak

Posted: 28 February, 2013

A gas leak was discovered at the old elementary building in Wayne this morning shortly before 10am. The Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to the scene. Mark Lenihan, Superintendent at Wayne Community Schools issued this statement. “A gas leak was discovered at the old elementary building this morning. The situation has been resolved with quick action by our Head of Maintenance, Travis Meyer, The Wayne Volunteer Fire Department and Wayne Police, and representatives from Black Hills Energy. The building was closed by the school district after the 2011-2012 school year and remains vacant. The Wayne Community School District has started the process of eliminating the facility and should have the building razed by summer of 2013.”
