Clarice Mae Morrison, age 98 of Coleridge (rescheduled update)

Clarice Mae Morrison, age 98 of Coleridge, Nebraska, died on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge. 
 
Funeral Services will be on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in Coleridge with Rev. Gary Kimm officiating.  Burial will be in the Coleridge Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday at the Wintz Funeral Home in Coleridge and will continue one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.  To view the video tribute or to send online condolences, please visit www.wintzrayfuneralhome.com.

 
Pallbearers will be Bob, Bill, Ken, Don, Jeff and Scott Morrison and Travis and Tyler Stingley.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Kathy Morrison, Cammy Harms and Kris Kreutz.
 
Clarice was born on February 28, 1915 to Ray and Emma (Graf) Peters on a farm near Coleridge.  She graduated from Coleridge High School as the Valedictorian in 1933.  She attended Wayne State Teachers College for one year and then taught at rural Midway school for 2 years and at rural Golden Prairie School for 1 year. Clarice married Lisle Morrison on September 9, 1937 in Coleridge.  They farmed the “Morrison Farm”, which has been in the family for almost 134 years, until moving into Coleridge in 1976.  She had been a resident of the Park View Haven Nursing Home since January 19, 2009.
 
Clarice was an active member of the Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ and the Women’s Fellowship, the Norris Home Makers Club and the East Broadway Birthday Club.  She worked at the Cedar County Fair for many years and also on the Cedar County Election Board.  Clarice enjoyed playing scrabble and cards, gardening, writing short articles, many of which were published in books and local newspapers, and sharing her knowledge about the history of Coleridge.  Clarice liked making banana bread and sharing it with her family and friends.
 
Clarice is survived by four children and their spouses, Jim and Dee Morrison of Omaha; Tom and Monica Morrison of Blair, NE; Bruce and Fan Morrison of Omaha; Susan and Duane Stingley of Laurel, NE; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lisle on April 14, 1989 at the age of 78, twin infant sons, Kenneth and Keith Morrison, a daughter-in-law, Sue (Nelson) Morrison and a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and J. Franklin Gordon.
