WAYNE - Carly Fehringer of Wayne State College was announced today as the Northern Sun Conference Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week following her performance Saturday at the Concordia Invite in Seward, Nebraska.
Fehringer, a junior from Wayne, Nebraska, uncorked the top throw in the hammer on Saturday with a new school record and NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 206’ 11”, breaking the previous school mark of 196’ 4” set by Lachel Milander at the Wildcat Classic on March 30th. Her mark moves her into the #1 ranking in the Nation and is the 13th best in all divisions. It also exceeds the USATF “B” standard mark for the USATF Outdoor National Championships to be held in June. In addition, she is the first athlete in NSIC history to have a mark over 200’. She also placed fifth in the shot put at 46’ 1 ¼”.
Wayne State College will be in action this weekend competing at the Nebraska Wesleyan Invite in Lincoln, Nebraska on Saturday.
