WSC Baseball Ranked 8th In Region

WAYNE - The Wayne State College baseball team dropped one spot to eighth in the second NCAA Division II Central Region Rankings announced Wednesday afternoon (May 1) by the NCAA office in Indianapolis, Indiana.
In games played through Sunday, April 28, the Wildcats were 25-13 overall and 21-10 against teams within the Central Region that is comprised of teams from the Northern Sun Conference, Great American Conference and Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
Central Missouri remains the top team in the region while Minnesota State moves up one spot to second. Missouri Western drops one notch to third with Southern Arkansas remaining fourth. Southwestern Oklahoma State moves up three spots to fifth with St. Cloud State slipping one position to sixth. Arkansas Tech and Wayne State each fell one spot to seventh and eighth respectively to round out the region poll. Six teams from the region will advance to the NCAA Tournament with automatic bids granted to the conference tournament winners from the NSIC and MIAA along with the remaining four spots awarded on an at-large basis.
Wayne State is scheduled to host Upper Iowa in a NSIC doubleheader Thursday at 2 p.m. and will close out the regular season Friday night and Saturday with a four-game NSIC series at Augustana College in Sioux Falls.
