With the incoming snow in the forecast and predicted wind speeds, the City of Wayne has issued a Snow Plow Alert starting at Noon on Tuesday, January 24 until further notice. All on-street parking within the City of Wayne should be removed from the city streets.

WSC Softball Adds Omaha Northwest Standout

WAYNE - Wayne State College Head Softball Coach Krista Wood announced today that Becca Kalhorn of Omaha Northwest High School has signed a letter of intent to attend Wayne State College and play softball for the Wildcats in 2013-14 academic year. She joins twin sisters Melanie and Monique Alyea (pronounced al-e-uh) of Phelan, California, Katherine Curtis of Overland Park, Kansas and Alyssa Schropp of Hastings as members of the 2013 recruiting class.

Kalhorn is a 5’9’’ first baseman/third baseman who is a four-year starter in softball and track and field at Omaha Northwest High School.  She was a four-time All-District selection and was Class A Honorable Mention All-State as a sophomore and senior.  Kalhorn had a stellar senior season, hitting .565 with a school record eight home runs and 42 RBI’s while leading Omaha Northwest to a 14-12 record, it’s first winning season in eight years.  She also excels in the classroom, earning Academic All-State honors the last two years.
“Becca is an outstanding athlete and competitor who is driven to win both on and off the playing field,” said Coach Wood.  “Not only will she be a threat at the plate, but will also solidify the Wildcat defense.  Look for Becca to be a great impact player for the Wildcats.”

               
Wayne State College finished the 2013 season with a 28-16 record, going 17-9 in NSIC.  It was the seventh straight winning season for the Wildcat program, matching a school record for most consecutive winning seasons.  Wayne State College is an NCAA Division II school located in Wayne, Nebraska and competes in the 16 team Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
