LINCOLN (AP) - State Sen. Steve Lathrop says he will embark on a statewide tour to introduce himself to Nebraskans and weigh a possible run for governor in 2014.
Lathrop, a Democrat, said in a news release Wednesday that he looks forward to "visiting with Nebraska families and business owners to hear their ideas about what we can work on together to keep our state moving forward." Lathrop's announcement came on the last day of the current legislative session. His term ends in 2014, and term limits would keep him from seeking re-election. The Omaha attorney has represented Millard and Ralston in the Legislature since 2007, and he is chairman of the Business and Labor Committee. He is also vice chairman of the Judiciary Committee and is a member of the Agriculture Committee.
