LINCOLN (AP) - A northeast Nebraska state park will guide the public on insects and fossils. Ponca State Park's annual Bugs and Bones Weekend will be held June 15-16.
The event will include fossil digs, educational hikes, crafts and hayrack rides. On June 15, an archery shoot for those 8 and older will be held. The cost is $1 for six arrows. Participants may also observe a retired paleontologist chip away at a Gillicus fossil throughout the weekend. The ancient fish fossil was discovered within the park by a child during a guided fossil dig.
