WAYNE (KTCH/KCTY) - The Wayne Community School Board held its regular meeting last night. Action items included the approval of Kayla Varley as a new special education teacher, and Tom Larsen as the new technology director.
The Board also voted to accept the resignation of Amy Woerdeman as technology director, with regrets and gratitude for her 16 years if service. Varley comes to Wayne Community Schools after teaching the past year at Norfolk Public schools. Larson has served the last 16 years in the IT department at NECC. The board also voted to approve the first reading of both the elementary and Jr./Sr. high school student handbooks. They also approved new lunch prices, raising everything by a dime, except breakfast which remains the same. Starting this coming school year, substitute teachers will now be paid $105 a day, a $10 increase.
