Wayne Junior and Senior Legion Team Split at Waterloo-Valley

WATERLOO (KTCH/KCTY) - The Wayne Junior and Senior Legion baseball teams were on the road at Waterloo-Valley Tuesday night for a pair of contests.
In the juniors' game, Wayne was bested 9-3. Brook Bowers had a double and a single at thet plate, while Jake Lutt and Noah Braun each knocked in an RBI. Bowers took the decision pitching for Wayne.
In the Seniors' game, Wayne trailed 8-3 heading into the fifth inning. Wayne would then score 10 runs across the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to win 13-9. Danny Melena had three hits and three RBIs to lead Wayne offensively, while Drew Carroll, Steven Sherman, Jordan Backer and Joey Lenihan each had two hits. Brandon Martian recorded his first ever Legion pitching victory in relief of Brady Soden. Martian went two innings and struck out two. Carrool finished the game on the mound. The Wayne seniors are now 11-2 on the year.
