WAYNE (KTCH/KCTY) - The Wayne High softball team hosted the Blue Devil Invitational on Saturday at the Wayne Softball Complex.
Heavy rain Friday night and Saturday morning shortened the tournament to two games each for the teams, instead of the originally planned three game format. The Blue Devils opened the tournament with a 6-1 win over Tekamah-Herman, followed by a 10-0 win over Twin River. The Twin River game saw Wayne’s Danica Schaefer smash a two-run homerun, while Hannah Belt and Ashten Gibson worked together to pitch the shutout. Wayne is now 3-0 on the year.
