Blue Devil Softball Falls To O'Neill

O’NEILL (KTCH/KCTY) - The Wayne High softball team was on the road last night, traveling to O’Neill for a contest with the Eagles.
In the matchup, the Blue Devils would suffer their first loss of the season, falling 4-3. Wayne was leading 3-0 before O’Neill scored four runs in the final inning to claim the come-from-behind win. Kendall Gamble and Hannah Belt both pitched for Wayne and shut down the Eagles to just one hit through the first six innings. However, in the seventh, O’Neill racked up five hits in a row during their rally. Offensively for the Blue Devils, Gamble had a double and two RBIs, while Victoria Kranz added a hit and an RBI. The Wayne JV team was victorious, winning 15-8.
In other area games, Arlington beat West Point-Beemer 12-4, West Point GACC beat South Sioux City 9-1, Norfolk beat Lincoln Northeast 11-5, and Twin River beat Wisner-Pilger 6-1.
