MINOT, ND - Minot State’s Emilie Rebelo scored on a free kick in the 36th minute for the lone goal of the contest to give the host Beavers a 1-0 Northern Sun Conference women’s soccer win Sunday afternoon over Wayne State College in Minot, North Dakota.  Minot State is now 5-6-2 and 5-5-1 in the NSIC while Wayne State falls to 1-12-1 and 1-9-1 in league play.

The host Beavers controlled the first half, out-shooting WSC 8-2 while scoring the game’s lone goal.  The Wildcats came out more aggressive in the second half and got off six shots and had two corner kicks but could not find the back of the net as Minot State held on for the 1-0 win.

Minot State held a 17-8 advantage in shots including 6-1 in shots on goal over the Wildcats.  MISU had seven corner kicks to Wayne State’s two while the Beavers were called for eight fouls compared to five on the Wildcats.

Individually for Wayne State, junior McKenna Adams had four of Wayne State’s eight shots with the lone shot on goal.  Freshman goalkeeper Kylie Comba was credited with five saves in the loss.

Wayne State will be on the road again next weekend, visiting Winona State Saturday and Upper Iowa Sunday in a pair of 1 p.m. Northern Sun Conference contests.
