Blue Devils Win First Game At Mid-State Tourney

PIERCE (KTCH/KCTY) - The Wayne High volleyball team competed in the first round of the Mid-States Conference tournament last night, facing Boone Central/Newman Grove in Pierce. The Blue Devils took the match in straight sets, winning by scores of 25-16, 25-23 and 25-19. Ashton Schweers led a balanced hitting attack with seven kills. Emma Evetovitch handed out 13 set assists for Wayne, while Meagan Backer led a strong defensive effort with 23 digs. Wayne, who is now 21-5 overall, will face Crofton in Battle Creek at 7:30 this evening.
