Wayne High Volleyball Falls In Five Sets To Crofton At Conference

BATTLE CREEK (KTCH/KCTY) - The Wayne High volleyball team competed in the second round of the Mid-States Conference tournament last night, facing Crofton in Battle Creek. The Blue Devils fell in a five set heartbreaker, with scores of the match going 25-11, 25-23, 18-25, 17-25 and 13-15. Ashton Schweers led in kills with 12, while Jaci Jenkins and Paige Wacker each had 11. Emma Evetovitch handed out 24 set assists in the contest, along with 15 from Sydney McCorkindale. Meagan Backer led the defensive effort with 36 digs, along with 28 each from Schweers and Evetovitch, and 16 digs from Peyton Roach. Wayne is now 20-6 overall on the season, and will face Hartington Cedar Catholic in the third-place game Friday night.
