WSC Women Ranked Fourth In Region

WAYNE - Wayne State College is fourth in the initial NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Central Regional Rankings released Wednesday afternoon by the NCAA office in Indianapolis, Indiana.  The Central Region is made up of teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, Great American Conference and Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. The Wildcats are 24-3 overall and have a 22-3 record against NCAA Division II teams and a 21-3 record within the Central Region.
Emporia State of Kansas tops the first region rankings with Harding (Ark.) second and Central Missouri third.  Following Wayne State are Minnesota State, Pittsburg State, Northern State and Concordia-St. Paul with Missouri Southern ninth and Fort Hays State 10th.  The top eight teams from the region will play in the NCAA Central Region Tournament March 14, 15 and 17 hosted by the top seed. 
Wayne State, ranked 11th in this week’s USA Today Sports/WBCA Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, will close out the regular season this weekend with games at Winona State Friday evening (6 p.m.) and Upper Iowa Saturday afternoon (4 p.m.).  Entering the final weekend of conference play, the Wildcats hold a one-game lead over Minnesota State for first place in the Northern Sun Conference.
