WSC's Jordan Spencer Named To All-NSIC Team

WAYNE - Jordan Spencer of Wayne State College was named Thursday morning to the 2013-14 NSIC Women’s Basketball All-Conference Team released by the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota. Spencer earned First Team honors after collecting Second Team honors last season as a sophomore and was the lone Wildcat player named to the All-Conference Team.
Spencer, a 5-11 junior forward from Omaha (Millard West HS/Neb.-Omaha), led Wayne State in scoring this season at 15.9 points per game. She scored double figures in 26 of 30 games and had five double-doubles this season and was a two-time NSIC Conference Player of the Week. Spencer ranks seventh in the NSIC in field goal percentage (.507), 10th in scoring and 20th in rebounding.
In conference games, Spencer averaged 15.0 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest, ranking tied for 16th in the league in scoring and 20th in rebounding.
Spencer scored a career-high 30 points against Augustana College on November 25th and later in the same week was named Most Valuable Player at the North Star Invitational in Fairbanks, Alaska after scoring 23 points against Lees-McRae (N.C.) and 26 in the championship game against host Alaska.
Spencer helped Wayne State win a third NSIC regular season title in the last four seasons as the Wildcats finished the regular 26-3 and 19-3 in league play.
Wayne State, ranked ninth in this week’s USA Today Sports/WBCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, is 27-3 on the season after topping Bemidji State 72-42 Wednesday evening in the first round of the NSIC Sanford Health Women’s Basketball Tournament. The Wildcats meet Sioux Falls on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. in the Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in the NSIC Sanford Health Tournament quarterfinals.
