Wayne House Party, Norfolk Receives Grant for Housing, NECC Job Fair

Posted: 08 March, 2010

An incident at a house party in Wayne last month has sparked some controversy online and at the WSC campus. On February 4, the Wayne Police Department broke up the party, after officers received complaints.  Nineteen people were cited for underage drinking. Now, some of the people at the party are alleging officers entered the home without cause. That's prompted the creation of a Facebook group, which has been a gathering place for debate about young peoples' rights, as well as laws surrounding the incident. For his part, Wayne police chief Lance Webster says officers were correct in busting the party.
