
Wayne State's Ashley Arlen named to 2010 DaktronicsAll-Central Region Women's Basketball First Team

Ashley Arlen of Wayne State College was named today (Wednesday) to the
2010 Daktronics Women's Basketball All-Central Region Team, earning
First Team honors.
The Daktronics All-Central Region team was voted
upon by sports information directors throughout the Central Region.
Each of the five first-team all-region selections will now be listed on
the Daktronics Division II Women’s Basketball All-American ballot, with
the announcement of those All-American teams expected Tuesday, March 23.
Arlen, a 6-2 sophomore forward from Cascade, Iowa, averaged 19.5 points
and 7.5 rebounds per game for the Wildcats this season, ranking second
in the NSIC in scoring and ninth in rebounding. She also ranked sixth
in the league with 1.07 blocked shots per game and had nine
double-doubles on the season scoring in double figures in 28 of the 30
games for the Wildcats. She was a three-time NSIC Player of the Week
this season and was named to the NSIC All-Tourament Team after setting a
new three-game scoring record with 73 points helping WSC win the 2010
NSIC Sanford Health Tournament title.
Wayne State is 26-4 on the season and winners of 15 straight games
heading into this weekend's NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament
in Durango, Colorado. The Wildcats are the #2 seed and face #7 seed
CSU-Pueblo (20-10) in the opening game of the tournament on Friday at
2:00 p.m. Central Time.
