
WSC softball posts two shutout wins at NTC Spring Games in Florida

The Wayne State College softball team posted a pair of shutout wins Wednesday at the National Training Center Spring Games in Clermont, Florida.
The 'Cats scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Belmont Abbey (NC) 1-0 and later blanked American International (Mass.) by the score of 3-0, giving the Wildcats a 10-2 record for the season.
In the first game, Hannah Engelkamp's RBI single scored Amy Sandstrom, who tripled to open the inning, with the game winning run to give the Wildcats a 1-0 win over Belmont Abbey. Amber Baird started the game pitching with Katie Goetzinger coming on in relief to pickup the win. The second game saw Jennifer Radley go 2 for 3 with a homer, double and two RBI's to give the Wildcats a 3-0 win over American International of Massachusetts. Radley's two-run homer in the fourth inning was the big hit of the game for WSC. Goetzinger earned the pitching win for the Wildcats.
Wayne State will conclude its spring break trip to Florida on Thursday with games against West Chester (Pa.) and Merrimack College of Massachusetts.
