     Gerald Francis Mallatt was born December 8, 1925at  Fordyce to Dale and Marie (Uhing) Mallatt.  He served in the United States Navy from 1943-1945. Gerald married Phyllis Renter June 14, 1948at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Laurel.  They lived in Laurelwhere they owned Mallatt Radio and T.V. Repair.  Gerald served as Mayor and was a policeman in Laurelfor many years.  He spent many years building and maintaining roads as well as other construction and was a rural mail carrier for the Laurel Post Office.  Gerald was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  He loved his family and was a caregiver for his wife.
     Gerald is survived by three sons, James (Cindy) Mallatt of Lincoln, Brian (Kathy) Mallatt of Omaha, and Scott  (Chris) Mallatt of Jacksonville, FL; four daughters, Leslie (Dennis) Van Gelder of Brighton, CO, Toni (William) Wickersham of Bryan-College Station, TX, Mickey (Douglas) Tuttle of Lincoln, and Candy (Mark) Aschoff of Laurel;  fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, L.J. (Marian) Mallatt of Laurel, Patrick (Joan) Mallatt Lincoln, and William (Janet) Mallatt of South Sioux City; two sisters, Shirley (Marlen) Kraemer of Laurel and Saundra (Melvin) Bottger of Grand Island; sister-in-law, Jeraldine Renter of Norfolk; nieces and nephews.
     Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis in 1992; one son; and one daughter;
     Gerald’s family appreciates your thoughts and kindness and invites you to lunch in St. Mary’s Faith Community Hall following the committal service
